One Purse Builds Donor Trust and Elevated Event Experiences with Chalk Line
How can a nonprofit reselling donated designer and luxury goods convey the same quality and credibility as the retailers it competes with—without diverting resources away from its mission? A print partner who understands both brand and mission can bridge that gap. For One Purse, Chalk Line has provided exactly that kind of partnership since the organization's earliest days, including underwriting the printed collateral for its signature fundraising event as an in-kind donation.
The Challenge
One Purse is a nonprofit that empowers women reclaiming their lives after domestic abuse and trafficking through employment and scholarships. Its social enterprise operates an e-commerce marketplace that resells donated designer and luxury purses, giving the women it employs a trauma-informed, safe path to build job skills and financial independence. Like many nonprofits, One Purse also relies on financial donations to sustain its work.
That combination created a distinct materials challenge. One Purse needed print collateral that could do two jobs at once: tell its story convincingly enough to earn the trust of both purse donors and financial donors, and function as the operational starting point for its donation process. The QR code on One Purse's donation cards, for example, kicks off the organization's entire purse intake-to-resale workflow.
For a nonprofit reselling designer and luxury merchandise, look and feel weren't optional extras. The tactile quality of the paper itself had to convey the caliber of merchandise One Purse was asking donors to entrust to them, so that each donated purse could be resold at its full value and put maximum impact behind the mission.
They needed a print partner who could operate as much like a strategic collaborator as a production vendor—one who understood a nonprofit's mission and its bottom line in equal measure.
The Solution
Chalk Line has been One Purse's print partner from day one—not a vendor brought in to fix a broken process, but a collaborator who has helped shape how One Purse communicates its mission from the beginning.
Rather than simply producing signage, donation cards, pledge cards and thank-you notes, Chalk Line has functioned as a strategic partner, helping One Purse think through how each printed touchpoint tells its story and protects its brand—consistent fonts, color palette, and print quality across every piece, with paper that feels as high-quality as the merchandise it's meant to help sell.
That partnership has grown alongside One Purse. One of the clearest examples is Freedom to Dream, One Purse's signature annual fundraising event. Chalk Line provides all of the event's printed collateral as an in-kind donation, giving One Purse a beautiful, elevated guest experience without diverting mission dollars to cover it—and freeing up resources to expand its reach with strategic donors.
The Results
One Purse's partnership with Chalk Line has delivered:
Consistent, high-quality brand materials that build trust with donors
A polished, elevated guest experience at Freedom to Dream, fully underwritten as an in-kind donation
Mission dollars protected rather than spent on event materials
Reduced administrative burden for a resource-constrained team
Expanded reach and engagement with strategic donors
A strategic thought partner invested in One Purse's mission, not just its print orders
Perhaps most telling is what that partnership makes possible for the women One Purse serves. Last year's Freedom to Dream honored three women, including Darian Long, who started with One Purse in an entry-level role on the e-commerce team and has since been promoted to e-commerce manager, leading a team of six women, while pursuing a One Purse scholarship in digital marketing at Full Sail University. Because Chalk Line's in-kind support keeps event costs from competing with mission dollars, more of what One Purse raises can go toward creating that kind of opportunity for the next woman it serves.

What One Purse Says
“Chalk Line functions less like a vendor and more like a strategic thought partner who understands our mission and has invested in it—and in us—from the start. For a resource-constrained team where everyone wears multiple hats, having a partner who catches details, protects brand quality, and grows with the organization removes a huge amount of stress.”
